Together, we can

plant super fruit trees so people thrive...
not just survive!

Who are we?

TriTrees is an NGO based in Uganda, East Africa -
rooted in the global south.

We support low-income communities by planting super fruit trees for food security, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation. We learn from and work with the communities that we serve.

Our Story - History and Rational:

TriTrees grew in the summer of 2021, after a rough global season of the COVID 19 pandemic, which pushed nearly 100 million more people into poverty, according to World Bank estimates.

A group of Ugandan family and friends trying to have an impact on extreme poverty, realized that there is a very real competition between trees (that the world needs for our global future) and crops (that families need for food, day-to-day). Digging deep into indigenous solutions, agroforestry, and research to find a sustainable solution, we found it!

Specially selected, nutrient rich, fast growing, genetically strong…SUPER FRUIT TREES

Fruit trees, especially our flagship tree of breadfruit, add great value to the low income communities that they serve AND help save the planet. Our trees bear fruit in only 3-5 years

More so, when a tree provides nutritious food and also helps other crops to grow better through agroforestry, you win at food security. This added value for communities helps to protect the fruit trees from being cut down for firewood, so you win at environmental conservation. When enough fruit is produced where a community has excess fruit in order to turn it into profit, you win again at economic empowerment.

We focus on women and girls and low income communities, for both equality, and impact.

We want communities to win! We want communities to thrive, not just survive!

Vision, Mission, Values and More...

Vision

We envision a world free from food, economic and environmental poverty.

Mission

We support low-income communities to plant ‘super fruit’ trees for food security, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation.

Statement of Purpose

We want to see people thrive, not just survive!

Values

Dignity: Our primary value is dignity.  We believe everyone is created uniquely in God’s image and should be treated with dignity.

Dignity profoundly affects every decision we make and how we treat the communities we serve, each other and our staff family. We are also intentionally made up of and serve people from all backgrounds, religions and diverse identities.

Stewardship: At TriTrees our second value which builds on the first is stewardship. We are stewards of each other’s welfare, our big goals, the organization, our resources and creation (the natural world).

ImpactWe work with and through others for a greater collaborative impact. We do more with less resources. We seek the best possible genetic material of fruit trees for each site for the best outcomes. We focus on women and children, and low income communities, who are disproportionately impacted by climate change and inequity.

In all we do, we seek to be effective, collaborative…impactful!

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:

We believe in the inclusion and celebration of diversity, for the benefit of enriching TriTrees and for a more equitable and better world. This includes but is not limited to celebrating and respecting diversity within our staff and volunteers and the communities we work with regard to religion, race, gender, disability, age and all other visible and invisible identifiers.

The Team

We are a group of professionals and friends from the nonprofit, private and other sectors, coming together to share expertise, to make a better world. We invite you to join us.
